Sound Therapy

Welcome to Your Sound Healing Journey

A sound bath is a deeply immersive, meditative experience where soothing sounds and vibrations from instruments like gongs, singing bowls, and chimes wash over you, promoting relaxation and healing. As you lie down in a comfortable position, the harmonious frequencies help to calm your mind, release tension, and restore balance in your body. Clients often leave feeling more grounded, peaceful, and revitalized.

Why Sound Therapy?

As a psychotherapist, I offer sound therapy alongside more traditional therapies because it can enhance emotional healing and deepen self-awareness. The therapeutic power of sound can reach beyond traditional talking therapy by engaging the body and nervous system. This holistic approach helps to release stored stress, improve mood, and facilitate trauma recovery, making it a powerful tool for emotional well-being. Whether you're seeking to alleviate anxiety, manage stress, or simply find inner calm, sound therapy can provide a gentle, yet effective, path to wellness.

Gong Bath FAQ

What is a Gong Bath?

A gong bath is a meditative experience where you are “bathed” in the sound waves of gongs, chimes, and other healing instruments. It’s designed to help relax your body, clear your mind, and restore your energy.

What should I bring to a gong bath?

You’ll want to bring a yoga mat, blanket, and pillow for your comfort, as you’ll be lying down for the session. It’s also a good idea to wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring water to stay hydrated afterward.

Do I have to take my clothes off? Will I get wet?

No need to worry—no one’s getting naked, and there’s no water involved! The term “gong bath” refers to being bathed in sound, not a literal bath. So keep your clothes on, get cozy, and enjoy the soothing sound waves, no soap required!

How long does a gong bath last?

Most gong baths last about 60 minutes, but the effects can linger for much longer, leaving you feeling relaxed and refreshed for hours or even days afterward. We allow time before and after a session for people to come and ask questions or just have a chat.

Are there any contraindications for attending a gong bath?

While gong baths are generally safe and deeply relaxing, they may not be suitable for everyone. Contraindications include:

  • Pregnancy (especially in the first trimester)

  • Epilepsy or those with sound-triggered seizures

  • Severe mental health conditions, such as psychosis

  • Heart conditions with pacemakers or metal implants, as the vibrations could potentially interfere

If you have any concerns or medical conditions, please consult with your GP before attending.

What should I do after the gong bath?

After the gong bath, it’s important to take care of yourself. Here are some tips:

  • Stay hydrated: Sound baths can have a detoxifying effect, so drink plenty of water afterward.

  • Rest: You might feel very relaxed or even tired after the session. Allow yourself time to rest and process the experience.

  • Reflect: Journaling or meditating can help integrate the insights and emotions that may have come up during the gong bath.

Will I feel anything during the session?

Everyone’s experience is unique, but many people report feeling deeply relaxed, tingly, or even experiencing mild physical sensations like warmth or vibration in different parts of their body. Others might feel emotionally moved or enter a dreamlike state.

Can I fall asleep during the gong bath?

Absolutely! Many people doze off during gong baths, and that's completely fine. The sound waves are working on a deep level, even if you're snoring away! Just enjoy the relaxation.

Is it safe to attend multiple gong baths?

Yes! Gong baths are gentle and safe for regular practice. Many people incorporate them into their self-care routines for ongoing stress relief and emotional well-being.

This FAQ should help you feel prepared and excited for your gong bath experience. Enjoy the healing sounds!

Do you cater for people with mobility issues?

You don't have to lay down to enjoy one of our sound baths. The Rayleigh WI hall venue is wheelchair accessible and there are chairs available should you prefer to sit rather than lay - please ask for one if they aren't immediately obvious.
